Cursed text generator
Type your text to make it cursed: tall stacks of marks pile above, through and below the letters until the words look haunted. Copy the result into a bio, a caption or a chat, and lower the slider if it gets too hard to read.

How to use it

Copy and paste
Select Copy, then paste the text where you want it and check how it looks there.
What makes text look cursed
Cursed text is ordinary text with many combining marks stacked on each letter. A combining mark is a character that draws on the letter before it, so a stack of them rises above the letter, cuts through it and hangs below it. The letters are still there, which is why you can copy and paste the text, but the stacks make it look broken, creepy or haunted.
Creepy, weird and scary text
People look for creepy, weird and scary text too, and the same marks make all of it. Marks above make the letters look tall and looming, marks through them look scratched out, and marks below look as if they are dripping. Switch a group on or off to change the mood, and use the slider to decide how much of it you want.
Keep it readable
Heavy stacks can overlap the lines around them, and many apps clip them at the edge of the box. Keep it to a short phrase, check how it looks after you paste, and keep anything people need to read in plain letters. Screen readers may read each mark aloud or skip the text. The result stops at 2,000 characters.
Frequently asked questions
What is cursed text?
Cursed text is normal text with many combining marks stacked above, through and below each letter, so it looks broken or haunted. The letters underneath are unchanged.
How is cursed text different from zalgo text?
They use the same marks. Cursed text starts at a heavy setting and keeps most letters readable, while zalgo text starts at full strength. The slider on either page moves between them.
Why is my cursed text cut off or overlapping?
Apps draw tall stacks of marks in different ways. Some clip them at the edge of the text box and others let them overlap the line above. Lower the intensity, or switch off the marks above the letters, if it overlaps.
Can I use cursed text on Discord or Instagram?
Both accept the characters, but how the marks look depends on the app and the phone. Try a short line first, and check it after you paste.
Can I turn cursed text back into normal text?
Yes. Paste it into the plain text converter, which removes the marks and gives you ordinary letters.
Is the cursed text generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no account and nothing to install. Your text is converted on your device and is never uploaded or saved, so you can try as many looks as you like.
