How glitch text works
Glitch text is ordinary text with combining marks added. A combining mark is a character that draws on the letter before it, such as an accent, a dot or a line. The generator adds a random number of them above, through and below each letter, so the line looks corrupted. The letters underneath are unchanged.
It is the same effect as zalgo text, kept light by default so that the words stay readable.
The slider and the switches
Intensity sets how many marks a letter can get, from a light flicker at 1 to a heavy stack at 10. The three switches turn the marks above, through and below the letters on or off. Shuffle gives the same settings a new pattern; without it, the same text and settings always give the same result.
Where it works and where it breaks
Glitch text works wherever you can paste text, but each app draws the marks its own way. Some clip them at the edge of the box, some let them overlap the line above, and a few remove them. Check how it looks after you paste, and keep it to a name, a heading or one line.
Glitch text is hard to read, and screen readers may read each mark aloud or skip the text. The result stops at 2,000 characters, so a long text gets fewer marks per letter.
